Etta (The Extraterrestrial) Phones Home Game

These are various components that can be used to put together your own game to teach telephone skills.

Game Board

Game Board Markers, Decorations, Spinner, and Big Telephone

Emergency Cards

Example One - Place small houses randomly on the game board. Use the spinner to move around the game board. If a player lands on a small house, he or she must practice dialing his or her home phone number. A smiling extraterrestrial card can be awarded if the player dials the telephone successfully.

Example Two - Place small telephone symbols randomly on the game board. Use the spinner to move around the game board. If a player lands on a telephone symbol, he or she must practice dialing 911. A smiling extraterrestrial card can be awarded if the player dials the telephone successfully.

Example Three - Each player takes an emergency card in turn. If the player successfully dials 911, he or she moves ahead the number of spaces indicated in the corner of the card. The first player to reach the finish wins.

Note - A real telephone is preferable for practicing phone skills. If one is not available, you can use the big picture of the telephone.

Note - I have tried to put together a mixed selection of emergency cards. Some of the situations are more realistic than others. Feel free to pick and choose those cards that best suit your own needs. If you feel the emergency cards may be upsetting to your child or student, don't use them.

Note - You can use the My Friends Book Activity page to put together your own book of personalized phone numbers to call.
